visited our local Barnes and Noble Book Store. She autographed books and graciously met with aspiring authors and avid readers. St. Philip 4th grader Andalushia Reilly was one of the lucky visitors who got to meet Mrs. Kelly and get and autographed copy of her book.

<![CDATA[Children's Choice Awards]]>Wed, 09 May 2012 14:13:41 -0500http://spsangelway.org/1/post/2012/05/childrens-choice-awards.htmlAfter taking First and Second Places at the Crafton Library Battle of the Books, the St. Philip teams moved on to  the AIU Children's Choice Awards/Battle of the Books. Competing against hundreds of students from dozens of school districts, the team of Carmen Worrall, Matthew Mell, Maeve Callahan, and Emily Costantino led by  team captain Louis Worrall placed Third in the event answering dozens of specific questions about the 8 books in the Choice Awards list.  They each received tickets to a Pirates game as a prize.The team of Ella Wrabley, Arabella Sargeant,Brendan Callahan, Elias Ward, Tyler Gura fought hard and represented St. Philip proudly. In addition to the competition, the students met two authors of Children's books and took a tour of Soldier's and Sailors' Hall where the Battle took place. Diary of a Wimpy Kid - Cabin Fever was voted the Children's Choice Number 1 Book of the year.

After a very successful run at St. Philip School, the cast of Rockin' Snow White took the show on the road to Marian Manor where the production got rave reviews. The 6th, 7th, and 8th grade actors got had a rockin' good time meeting and greeting the residents after the performance.

St. Philip students once again answered the challenge of their Pastor, Fr. Walt Dworak, and collected more pop-tops than he did. The students were good sports and helped Fr. Walt carry the P op Tops to the Rectory where they will be stored until pick up day.
The real winner of the competition of course is the Ronald McDonald House which will be the recipient of money the collection will earn through recycling.
